Elder Candidates

“For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach.”
-Titus 1:7

Titus 1:6-9

“If anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination.  For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.”

The Affirmation Process

Periodically the Elder Board Nominating Committee seeks out Godly men in the church to serve on FAC’s elder board.  These leaders are then introduced to the congregation and an opportunity is given for church members to affirm each candidate or provide feedback as to why they feel a candidate is unfit to serve as an elder according to the standard described in Titus 1.  This is not a vote or choice between the candidates.  Rather, the intention of the nominating committee is that both candidates will be affirmed to join the elder board.

Please take a minute to get to know each of this year’s candidates and then take the opportunity to give us your feedback on both men.
